Town Offices — Procedures and Updates

Town Offices will be open on a limited basis only until further notice. Building doors will remain closed; please use alternative means of conducting business, such as phone, email, mail, fax, etc. For the Town’s directory, please visit Contacts Directory.

Accounting Department

Community Center

All activities are cancelled until further notice.

Council on Aging

*If you are a caregiver or receive services, please call the Council on Aging at (508) 676-1831 to discuss your situation*

SENIORS 60+ that need to go grocery shopping will be transported to Stop & Shop during the store’s special hours from 6 AM to 7:30 AM.

Supportive Daycare and congregate meals cancelled until further notice.

AARP Tax Assistance Program cancelled until further notice.

Transportation services will continue for kidney dialysis only. All other appointments are cancelled until further notice.

Fire Department

For NON-EMERGENCY and routine fire business, please contact Swansea Fire at (508) 672-4305. For all emergencies, please dial 911.

Highway Department

Large and Bulk Item Pickup: to schedule large and bulk item pickup, contact Waste Management directly here.

Parks, Playgrounds, etc. (including Swansea Veterans’ Memorial Park on Milford Road)

All public parks, playgrounds, ball fields, etc. are closed until further notice.

Police Department

For NON-EMERGENCY and routine police business, please contact Swansea Police at (508) 674-8464. For all emergencies, please dial 911.

Selectmen’s Office

Senior Tax Work-Off Program: we’re currently exploring how to proceed with the program. If you’ve been selected to participate in the program, your participation will not be affected. We will be reaching out to you soon.

Swansea Free Public Library

Closed to the public, limited services are still available. For more details, visit Swansea Free Public Library.

Swansea Public Schools

Schools will be closed from March 16 through April 6. Visit Swansea Public Schools for the latest news and procedures.

Tax Department

Online payments for 2020 Excise Tax bills can be made at Town of Swansea’s home page under the “Pay Bills Online” tab; you may also mail in your payment.  Please see the Tax Department Procedures for information on how to make payments.

UPDATE: The Tax Department will not issue demand notices for excise tax bills due on March 27, 2020, until late April 2020. For more information, click here.

Town Clerk

Limited services are available through the Town Clerk’s Office. Please see Town Clerk Procedures for more information.

The Special Town Meeting scheduled for March 23 has been postponed until April 13.

Anyone wishing to purchase a Shellfishing Permit for 2020 (Residential and Recreational), Officer Shane Mello will be available on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Swansea Police Station, 1700 GAR Highway.  Please bring your drivers license with you and the fee must be paid for by check, made out to the Town of Swansea.
